Charles Gagnon was commissioned by Sister Mary Brigh, O.S.F, to create an heroic size "Saint Francis" bronze sculptures for Saint Mary's Hospital in 1967. His research was done in Assisi, Italy, and the sculpture was unveiled in 1969. "Saint Francis" is a symbol of hope and peace for patients and visitors the original models for the sculpture are displayed in the Gagnon Museum. Arlyn Gagnon shares stories about "Saint Francis" and her husband's creation of the sculpture during museum tours.
